 ابتکار تولید الکترود جوشکاری در ایران پس از مطالعات و بررسی‌های به عمل آمده توسط سه نفر از متخصصین و پیشکسوتان صنعت کشور در اردیبهشت ماه 1338 شکل گرفت. بدین منظور پس از طی مراحل قانونی شرکت صنعتی آما در مهر ماه 1338 رسما تاسیس گردید.

شرکت ایساب ESAB اولین و بزرگترین مجموعه تولید مواد مصرفی جوش و برش در جهان است . این شرکت در سال 1904 توسط یک مهندس سوئدی که مخترع الکترود پوشش دار بود آقای Oscar Kjellberg در کشور سوئد تاسیس گردید . سپس برای این منظور در سال 1904 شرکت Elektriska Svetsnings Aktie Bolaget را به دنیا معرفی کرد که بعدها به ESAB معروف گردید .
